Zipscreen

Zipscreen is a trusted and popular choice for outdoor living spaces, offering style, privacy, and protection. Designed to meet the demands of modern homes, this innovative external screening system enhances patios, balconies, and alfresco areas with seamless functionality and sleek aesthetics.
Aurora chooses to work with multiple different outdoor zip blind systems, including Zipscreen. Whilst Zipscreen is not our preferred (as we believe there are some more stylish and stronger products on the market), it is the most common and well advertised product in Australia – hence why we have it available for you should you wish to match existing installations.

Technical Specifications
Aluminum Profiles
Constructed with high-quality, extruded aluminum profiles for enhanced durability and strength. Aluminium is milled, manufactured overseas and then imported whereas the eZIP product is milled and manufactured in Australia.
Maximum Width
Whilst a standard Zipscreen can go up to 5.5 metres in width, the Zipscreen Extreme product can extend to 7 meters with a heavier duty tube and componentry. We wouldn’t recommend this larger option often as the wind tolerance is really low – for larger blinds, we’d recommend either the Alpha M or the eZIP which uses stronger componentry.
Maximum Drop
5 meters total, but this is an exceptionally large height. For blinds this high, we’d recommend not using a heeadbox, instead installing on the brackets only.
Side Channels
z-LOCK™ Component
Utilizes a patented zip-guided system that ensures the fabric remains securely within the side channels, providing a taut and smooth finish.
Wind Resistance
Low in comparison to other Zip blinds on the market. Marketing material will say up to 55 km/h, but we would recommend installing a wind sensor and retratcing above 25 km/h.
Fabric Options
Available in various colors and openness factors to suit privacy and shading needs. We would only recommend either PVC mesh or fibreglas mesh options from reputable sources such as Ricky Richards or HVG.

Frequently Asked Questions
The z-LOCK™ system ensures the fabric remains securely within the side channels, creating a gap-free seal. This protects against sun, wind, rain, and insects while maintaining a taut, smooth finish. The wider you go in the Zipscreen blind, say wider than 3m, you’ll notice a slight ‘V’ shape on the base bar of the blind. This is normal for Zipscreen but avoid with eZIP.
Zipscreen features patented z-LOCK™ technology, which creates a secure, gap-free seal between the fabric and side channels. This ensures superior protection from sun, wind, rain, and insects while maintaining a smooth, taut finish.
While Zipscreen blinds are designed to be durable and reliable, like any outdoor system, they require regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Cleaning the fabric and checking the z-LOCK™ system for debris can help prevent operational issues. Using a simple garden hose to clean out the side tracks and top roll will work wonders for keeping this operation smooth.
Whilst marketing material online suggests high wind tolerance, reality differs. From experience, the Aurora Team have seen many many service calls to homeowners over the years to ‘pop’ the fabric back inside the channels. This is why we recommend not having the Zipscreen blind down with winds greater than 25 km/h, and installing a cost effective and reliable wind sensor. Alternatively, look to the Alpha M or eZIP products which provide much much higher wind tolerance.
